Following an indie West Coast/Southwest US Tour ending in their hometown of Los Angeles, UByK (originally Samantha Tobey & Roman Roze) wrote new material and eventually went into the studio w/ producer Alex Newport to record their debut EP Matryoshka, officially released in April 2008. The band also released a stop motion video for the title track "Matryoshka" and an experimental art film for the song "Work." More about the recording of the Matryoshka EP can be read in this interview with UByK published around the time of the release:

UByK has since evolved and expanded both their touring and album lineup to include Swedish lead guitarist Pelle Hillstrom, LA veteran drummer Rich Sherwood, and Australian import Fox on Bass, all of whom can be heard on UByK's next release entitled "Odds" set to be released in early 2012.
